RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Validate different models, such as pricing and actuarial models or models of credit risk, economic capital and stress testing, to measure their effectiveness and adaptability to their intended use.
  • Design and execute statistical tests to evaluate the sensitivity, robustness and efficiency of models.
  • Assess the strength and risk of a model from the point of view of its approach and use.
  • Measure model effectiveness from a quality assurance perspective, and be proactive in seeking improvements to existing models and analytical tools.
  • Write complete validation reports and discuss model issues with different stakeholders.
  • Find solutions with great creativity, ingenuity, negotiating talent and diplomacy.
  • Make informed and balanced decisions on complex issues, and put his expertise to the service of the company to avoid exposure to unnecessary risk.
  • Conduct validation projects involving internal validation managers or consultants.
  • Lead and coordinate multi-disciplinary project teams composed of, among others, model users, internal and external modeling experts and other stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the improvement of model validation procedures and the model risk governance framework by drawing on industry best practices.
  • Plan and coordinate work plans so that model reviews are completed on schedule.
  • Assist Model Governance employees to enforce Model Risk Management Policy guidelines and internal policies.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Postgraduate degree in quantitative finance, mathematics, statistics, computer science, actuarial science, finance, economics or any other quantitative field OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least five years of relevant experience in modeling, model validation or quantitative analysis with a bank, insurance company, asset manager or other type of institution financial.
  • Extensive practical knowledge of developing, validating and implementing quantitative models to measure, analyze and manage financial and insurance risks.
  • Confirmed experience of actuarial, statistical and econometric models.
  • Demonstrated practical knowledge of various quantitative software packages.
  • Advanced theoretical knowledge and specialized knowledge of a wide range of quantitative models used by financial institutions.
  • Knowledge of mortgage loan insurance and securitization activities.
  • Familiarity with OSFI's capital requirements, OSFI's risk management standards and the International Accounting Standards Board's solvency standards.
  • Knowledge of risk-based approaches used in capital modeling, and experience in putting them into practice.
  • Demonstrated experience in writing technical modeling or validation reports.
  • Ability to write reports to convey information that will be interpreted.
  • Ability to persuade, exercise influence and negotiate with colleagues, clients and senior management.
  • Ability to research, analyze problems, summarize information and make recommendations.
