RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Primary corporate actuarial contact for other departments regarding analyses and information relating to special, strategic projects of company and its insurance subsidiaries.
  • Identify high-value opportunities for the application of analytics for internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Provide leadership in designing and deploying statistical models to enhance reserving tools and claims analytics.
  • Oversees the scheduling, design, and discussion of unique analyses/reports needed for various special projects.
  • Support AVP, special projects in planning work for special project including identifying key deliverables and resource needs or constraints.
  • Clearly and effectively communicate key concepts, findings and issues related to special projects.
  • Continually focus on process improvement to promote internal efficiency.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • University Degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Computer Science or a relevant discipline.
  • Must have at least 5 years of relevant experience in the advanced analytics space with Strong knowledge of statistical and predictive modelling techniques.
  • Leadership experience. Must have good project management skills such as communication and organizational skills and an ability to promote and supervise a team effort toward project completion.
  • Property & casualty Insurance experience is an asset.
  • FCAS/ACAS designation is preferred.
  • Solid understanding of actuarial concepts as it relates to loss reserving, valuation, and Pricing, etc., is required.
  • Must possess strong programming and design skills in various forms of data manipulation, analytical and stochastic modeling and machine learning software.
  • A good/strong working knowledge of the following software packages is expected: Excel, SAS, R or Python.
  • Must be willing to work through and understand complex analyses and computer programs/programming environments.
  • Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills as well a strong knowledge of statistics to understand complex analyses and computer programs/programming environments and design solutions to unique problems.
