RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Build and maintain the statutory reserve and capital MG-ALFA models for the variable annuity portfolio.
  • Deliver timely reserve and capital calculations, and develop attributions for the quarterly results.
  • Develop strong relationships with the Appointed Actuary, asset/liability professionals, risk management professionals and variable annuity product management professionals to assess model uses and performance.
  • Continually assess model functionality vs. business requirements and implement required improvements with minimal business interruption.
  • Design, test, and review model enhancements to support new product features, new product assumptions, or other requirements of the business.
  • Perform model sensitivity runs in support of understanding the key drivers of the financial results of the business.
  • Perform documentation and other governance functions of actuarial modeling processes.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Fellow of the Society of Actuaries.
  • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, finance, economics, math, physics, engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Direct, hands-on experience with an actuarial modeling platform such as MG-ALFA, Axis, etc.
  • Recent experience performing variable annuity valuations and capital assessment.
  • Strong financial modeling/valuation and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong time and project management skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel and database tools.
  • Willingness to work slices of unusual hours to expedite modeling tasks.
