  • Participates in the development, implementation and monitoring of the enterprise risk framework for North America Enterprise Risk Management. The risks defined are: underwriting risk, market risk, credit risk, operational risk, liquidity risk, concentration risk, strategic risk, emerging risk and reputation risk.
  • Manages the risk management framework through communication, training and making recommendations for operational improvement.
  • Responsible for production of quarterly risk reports and provides continuous improvements.
  • Prepares quarterly economic solvency results for dissemination to home office.
  • Participates in the annual production of the ORSA summary report for the North American Life entities.
  • Participates at periodically scheduled meetings with various departments to monitor key risks in the company.
  • Supports large/complex transactions and new product development from a Risk Management perspective.
  • Provides Insurance Economic Risk Capital, Pandemic and/or Credit risk measures to Pricing as required.
  • Supports ongoing development of the Internal Economic Risk Capital calculation engine.
  • Develops and maintains model calibration methodology for use in the Economic Risk Capital model.
  • Participates in presentations to various departments on ERC topics.
  • University Degree in Actuarial Science, Finance, Statistics, or Mathematics. Master’s degree preferred.
  • FSA or near-FSA.
  • 3-5 years of experience in the Life and Health reinsurance/insurance industry, with related technical experience.
  • Understanding of the Canadian and US re/insurance market.
  • Superior attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Keen strategic thinking, business acumen and problem solving skills.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and influencing skills across all levels of the organization. Experienced presenter before groups and effectively manages question and answer sessions.
  • Strong focus on client service and partnership.
  • Project management skills and experience.
  • Ability to make technical decisions related to risk management.
  • Ability to make operational decisions related to risk management.
  • Strong ability to learn and execute modelling and model design using software/application knowledge including - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, AXIS and MATLAB, VBA.
