  • Provide effective oversight on quarter-end liability reviews and notes to financial statements.
  • Lead Canada's Appointed Actuary Report process
  • Complete internal actuarial peer reviews on experience studies and IGAAP valuation methodologies.
  • Worked closely with Individual and Group businesses on method and assumption changes.
  • Manage the issues logs, approximation list and manual adjustments processes related to IGAAP valuation.
  • Provide feedback to Corporate Actuarial on proposed changes to Actuarial Governance Guidance/Principles.
  • Work closely with Business Units to strengthen actuarial controls as per the Actuarial Governance Guidelines/Principles.
  • Incorporate changes into IGAAP valuation reporting and processes as a result of upcoming IFRS 17 implementation.
  • Provide leadership to analysts on the team.
  • FSA/FCIA Actuarial Designation.
  • 5+ years of actuarial experience in the Insurance Industry.
  • Strong technical, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated people management capabilities.
  • Strong commitment to quality and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Previous actuarial experience in Valuation, Pricing, and Risk Management functions.
