  • Support, maintain and co-develop the Japan model created by the company and support placement of multiple Japanese insurance companies.
  • Expand new features of the model like river flood, snow, storm surge or special insurance payouts in cooperation with company’s renown specialist of Impact Forecasting to the benefit of company clients.
  • Support the Japan team in the creation of weather related derivative products and other catastrophe related re-insurance products.
  • Liaise with Universities and experts to better understand the implication of the latest research on risk in Japan.
  • Assess and present the latest research on risk to colleagues and / or clients and discuss potential model implementation.
  • Communicate with brokers, Japanese insurance clients and international reinsurers model changes relevant to clients and or market.
  • Support post event loss and claims estimation assessment for clients based on machine learning and proprietary databases, independently from vendor models.
  • MSc or PhD in Climatology, Meteorology or other Atmospheric science degrees.
  • Bilingual.
  • Proficiency in programming languages: Fortran, python, C, C++, R, Perl …
  • Experience in developing hazard or risk analysis.
  • Experience building or utilizing probabilistic catastrophe models.
  • Knowledge of machine learning, data sciences or deep learning.
  • Knowledge of Japanese corporations’ decision making process, Insurance Industry or Banking Statutory an asset
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office suites.
  • Strong networking skills and self-motivation.
  • Strong work ethics.
