RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage client expectations and raise appropriate issues to senior consultants and client relationship managers.
  • Liaise with colleagues in other practices and regions whenever mandates affect broader issues for the client.
  • Develop a trusted advisor relationship with client contacts through effective and efficient communication and quality project execution.
  • Draft statements of work, project plans and budgets involving multiple workflow streams and client teams.
  • Serve as day-to-day project manager, ensuring the progress of the team against established objectives, budget, timeline, deliverables and quality standards.
  • Serve as primary, daily contact to clients on delivery of services.
  • Provide value-added consultation services as part of major complex projects related to retirement plans, including assessment, design, and financial risk and funding management.
  • Ensure clients are regularly informed about the implications and opportunities that changing laws and regulations may have on their pension plans.
  • Perform technical/consulting review of work products.
  • Contribute to the development of new tools and approaches.
  • Meet billable hour goals as described by the manager.
  • Contribute to the growth of the business as part of the broader team.
  • Develop new business opportunities and enhance existing relationships.
  • Directly contribute to clients’ success through applying your technical expertise.
  • Build relationships internally and collaborate effectively on cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrate natural ease and effectiveness when dealing with clients and colleagues at all levels.
  • Serve as mentor to project team colleagues.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science or any other related university training.
  • At least 6 to 12 years’ experience in retirement consulting, preferably within a consulting firm, as well as experience in Canadian retirement plans.
  • Proven experience in managing multiple projects and producing quality deliverables on time and within budget.
  • Past success and deep expertise in business growth.
  • Client relationship and interpersonal skills, as well as team player.
  • Executive presence with strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Self-starter attitude and ability to work within ambiguity.
  • Problem solver; able to identify and solve challenging problems.
  • Strong analytical skills and creativity.
  • Track record of mentoring junior colleagues.
  • Ability to see the big picture, leveraging the resources of related practices to address the clients’ business challenges.
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel.
  • FSA/FCIA credentials or significant progress towards FSA/FCIA credentials.
  • Bilingual.
