RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Identifies and directs the implementation of strategies to manage the inforce block that support the business strategy.
  • Identifies and directs the implementation of process improvements that enhance the quality of in force management for the inforce product line.
  • Develops complex Actuarial models/spreadsheets needed for managing the inforce business.
  • Provides subject matter expertise to Legal, Compliance and Claims on detailed policy calculations.
  • Identifies and directs the preparation of technical policy information for Legal, Customer Service, Claims and other clients.
  • Monitors and analyzes administrative system corrections on actuarial issues.
  • Monitors developments in actuarial techniques, research into laws and regulations applicable to company operations or actuarial science.
  • Exerts influence in the role as guardian of the company’s financial interests.
  • Collaborates with Senior Management on approved strategy decisions and contributes to strategy creation for managing the inforce business.
  • Identifies and directs and enhances organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives within the inforce products.
  • Identifies process improvements that improve quality across the team, department and/or business unit for the inforce business.
  • Provides subject matter expertise to team members and applicable internal/external stakeholders on complex assignments/projects for inforce business.
  • Directs and evaluates individual/team performance and takes appropriate action to meet and/or exceed performance standards for assigned area/s of responsibility.
  • Ensures that top talent is hired and retained for your assigned area/s of responsibility.
  • Provides training and development opportunities, including stretch assignments, for team members and gives honest and open feedback to aid in the development of talent.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Undergraduate degree or 4+ years of comparable work experience. Education concentration in mathematics, actuarial science, business or science is preferred.
  • FSA designation or ASA designation with additional years of actuarial experience.
  • 5-7 years of experience in actuarial science that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position.
  • Ability to create, analyze, and audit actuarial and financial models. Sound understanding and knowledge of Statutory Accounting Principles, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, and Internal Revenue regulations.
  • Understanding of life insurance product mechanics, operations, administration, and distribution.
  • Understanding of state life insurance regulations and life insurance related compliance issues.
  • A demonstrated track record of consistently meeting and/or exceeding performance expectations.
  • Possesses a bias for action and avoids workplace distraction.
  • Drives performance targets to completion.
