  • Provide strategic leadership with respect to pricing to optimize both profitability and growth within each personal insurance portfolio as well as enterprise wide. Contribute to the achievement of company’s overall pricing and underwriting strategy.
  • Influence operational planning through sharing insight and knowledge of the personal portfolio.
  • Establish effective working relationship with regulatory bodies in all Company jurisdictions and lead the development of PL pricing models consistent with business and regulatory requirements.
  • Continually improve PL pricing analysis and processes to deliver regular updates of PL portfolio profitability, share valuable business insights and inform business strategies and actions.
  • Analyzes key actuarial and business performance metrics, shares knowledge within the organization, particularly with Sales/Marketing, Operation and Claims, and adjusts accordingly through effective pricing and underwriting expertise.
  • Collaborate with Analytics in advancing the pricing sophistication and implementing statistical models including pricing, retention, conversion and lifetime value.
  • Influence business partners to adopt pricing models and create specifications for IT delivery.
  • Seek insight on a continuous basis about industry trends, competitive activities, innovation, and current best practice with respect to pricing and underwriting initiatives and incorporate such knowledge, as appropriate, into recommendations for the business.
  • Develop a constructive and collaborative relationship with relevant colleagues globally and continual dialoguing with Group to ensure leverage of existing knowledge, tools, data, and processes.
  • Plan and manage business operations and resources of the team in line with agreed performance targets.
  • Lead, motivate, develop, and focus members of your team to ensure delivery of the required standards of excellence in service and performance.
  • Coach team members and consistently seek to raise standards and expertise across the personal pricing team.
  • In collaboration with business partners, develop customer propositions by providing expert advice and guidance based on analytic insight, local practice, performance and market trends.
  • Support an effective and proportionate business control environment in line with internal policy and external legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Represent the company on external bodies and committees, taking a leading role in influencing market expectations, direction, standards, and legislation in line with company’s best interests and commercial priorities.
  • University or college degree in statistics, actuarial science, mathematics, or related field FCAS, FCIA.
  • Minimum 10+ years relevant pricing experience including significant experience with rate filing processes and with regulators.
  • Demonstrated success in people, project, and relationship management, utilizing professional knowledge and ability to influence stakeholders and deliver results.
  • Minimum 7+ years managerial experience.
  • Expert knowledge of personal auto and property insurance.
  • Technical expertise in predictive modelling, ideally including experience with SAS, R, and Emblem.
  • Outstanding communication skills.
