RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead and support the engagement leader on projects which may include:
  • Insurance Companies, Self-Insurance and Captives -Valuation of liabilities, Dynamic Capital Adequacy Testing analyses, transition to IFRS 17, and risk retention and optimization.
  • Rate analysis, from classical to advanced analytics, including risk and demand models, optimization, active portfolio management, claims and fraud analytics.
  • Enterprise Risk Management - Enterprise risk assessment, financial risk and economic capital modeling, capital management, and reinsurance optimization.
  • Mergers, Acquisitions and Restructuring - Due diligence, support in sales and capital raising, corporate restructuring and rehabilitation, reinsurance and financing alternatives.
  • Transition to engagement leader and Appointed Actuary on certain clients.
  • Contribute to the development of new tools and approaches.
  • Build strong relationships internally and collaborate effectively on cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrate natural ease and effectiveness when dealing with clients/colleagues at all levels.
  • Serve as mentor to project team associates.
  • Deliver superior, consistent project management for assigned clients:
  • Draft statements of work, project plans and budgets involving multiple workflow streams and client teams.
  • Serve as the day to day project lead, ensuring the progress of the team against established objectives, budget, timeline, deliverables and quality standards.
  • Serve as primary, daily contact to clients on delivery of services.
  • Develop a trusted advisor relationship with client contacts through effective communication and efficient, quality execution of projects.
  • Manage client expectations and raise appropriate issues to Directors/Senior Directors and Client Relationships Managers.
  • Meet revenue and billable hour goals as described by manager.
  • Support the generation of new business as part of the broader team.
  • Develop new business opportunities and enhance existing relationships.
  • Directly contribute to clients’ success through applying your technical expertise.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • FCAS/FCIA with a minimum 7 to 10 years’ experience in an insurance, actuarial or financial environment.
  • Deep experience in reserving, pricing and ERM.
  • Strong analytical skills including ability to draw conclusions and identify trends from data in a logical, systematic way.
  • Proven experience successfully managing multiple projects and producing quality deliverables on time and within budget.
  • Demonstrated success or strong evidence to support new business generation.
  • Strong client relationship, interpersonal and team skills.
  • An executive presence with polished and well developed oral and written communication skills.
  • French proficiency is an asset.
  • Self-starter attitude and ability to work within ambiguity.
  • Flexibility and proven ability to diagnose and resolve issues.
  • Enjoys training/mentoring junior staff.
  • The ability to see the big picture, leveraging the resources of related practices to address the clients’ business challenges.
  • Working knowledge of Excel, MS Project, MS Word.
  • Knowledge of the company software an asset.
  • Availability to travel on an as needed basis.
  • Undergraduate degree required.
  • Membership in the Casualty Actuarial Society is mandatory.
