RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conducting user testing of inforce data extracts on experience analysis and valuation platforms.
  • Implementing and maintaining inforce management and risk management processes, including premium vector maintenance activities.
  • Modeling and analysis to monitor financial performance and risk metrics.
  • Developing, maintaining, reporting, and analysis of collateral models for the block of business.
  • Partner with Operations, Valuation and Pricing to perform user testing of experience data extracts.
  • Perform mortality experience analysis against various bases using mortality analysis software.
  • Examines quality of source data and evaluates software output for accuracy and quality, understanding patterns and trends in analyzing the information.
  • Actuarial Adjustments to Premiums.
  • Support the Longevity team in the identification of data changes in the inforce file, revised premium cashflows and the resulting financial settlement.
  • Review the proposed data changes to ensure compliance with treaty terms.
  • Review the calculation of new monthly premium vectors encompassing the remaining life of the deal.
  • Review the retroactive benefit/cost of the change.
  • Develop transaction specific cash flow models in order to estimate current and ongoing collateral needs.
  • Maintain and enhance existing models to ensure appropriate model capabilities and controls are in place.
  • Calculate and validate margin calls associated with collateral movements.
  • Develop collateral projections, sensitivities, and management reports.
  • Gain in-depth knowledge of the collateral provisions of each treaty in order to effectively monitor the collateral movement and expectations.
  • Analyze collateral impacts resulting from changes in underlying data extracts.
  • Partner with peers in Valuation and Operations to support the testing of valuation data extracts.
  • Develop and implement system tools to monitor all aspects of the inforce business.
  • Provide analysis to support communication to executives and senior management groups.
  • Support development and upload of Plan projections based on given inputs from Corporate Guidance.
  • Develop systems and analysis to reveal the root causes of deviations from plan and/or from original pricing.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Passed 4 exams with the Society of Actuaries.
  • 2+ years relevant experience.
  • Undergraduate degree in related field.
  • Strong modeling and technical skills, including database applications, spreadsheets, statistical programs and actuarial software.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Effective project management skills.
  • Knowledge of life, health, and/or annuity products.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, whereby complex and technical information can be conveyed in a way that is meaningful by all stakeholders.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, demonstrating the ability to work effectively with different stakeholders and disciplines across the company, including local offices, pricing, finance, valuation, investments, administration as well as external vendors.
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment.
  • Ability to anticipate future needs; be proactive and adjust to constant change.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities, while dealing with ambiguity.
  • Strong service and results orientation and a drive to make a difference.
  • Preferred:
  • ASA designation with the Society of Actuaries.
  • Previous reinsurance experience.
  • Previous experience with pensions.
