RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Gather data from various sources and prepare it for import, apply catastrophe modeling software to data, analyze and validate results in a timely manner.
  • Assist in providing and communicating catastrophe loss and exposure estimates to customers in a timely manner.
  • Support and sustain profitable organizational growth by providing effective catastrophe analysis that identifies profitable areas to target and highlights unprofitable areas as well as monitoring key catastrophe statistics and advising management of possible issues.
  • Obtain extensive knowledge of catastrophe-exposed products.
  • Proactively share knowledge in catastrophe-related areas, create learning experiences and foster collaboration within the department.
  • Collaboration with Analytics team.
  • Potential to supervise team of cat modelers.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Uses a range of skills, tools, and techniques to manage time when accomplishing specific tasks, projects and goals; this includes planning, allocating, setting goals, delegation, analysis of time spent, monitoring, organizing, scheduling, and prioritizing.
  • Conducts oneself in a polite and respectful manner and demonstrates good judgment when dealing with internal and external clients.
  • Completes tasks and job functions on time, while meeting or exceeding expectations; carries a trusted reputation for dependability, honesty, consistency, and commitment.
  • Expresses ideas clearly, listens effectively, shares information appropriately, demonstrates interpersonal skills, and resolves conflict as needed.
  • Undergraduate degree, preferably in mathematics, statistics, or related quantitative field, with Atmospheric or Earth Sciences as background a plus.
  • A minimum of two years’ relevant professional experience in an analytical role with in-depth knowledge of reinsurance concepts.
  • Expert knowledge and experience in problem solving in MS Excel is desired; ability to use R or Python a plus.
  • Previous CAT Modeling experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully work on and complete complex projects.
  • Highly developed conceptual, analytical and innovative problem-solving skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with other departments is of primary importance.
  • Ability to excel in a detail-oriented, deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks while maintaining constant level of high quality.
