  • Work with private sector clients to deliver life insurance valuations and product pricing.
  • Work with regulators to develop risk based capital frameworks, develop and conduct quantitative impact industry studies, provide training on new IFRS standards and develop legislation.
  • Provide audit support regarding life and general insurance actuarial liabilities.
  • Conduct independent actuarial reviews for court mandates.
  • Act as the regulatory actuary for regulators reviewing statutory filings and performing industry analyses.
  • Be the signing actuary on client mandates.
  • Provide peer review for client deliverables for other colleagues.
  • Manage and maintain client relationships delivering exceptional client service.
  • Lead client meetings and present work to clients in collaboration with teams.
  • Manage, coach and guide team members, sharing knowledge and experience, and acting as a mentor in supporting team member growth & development.
  • Manages scope of work, fees, budget and work plan.
  • Seek revenue opportunities and participate in RFPs.
  • Gain insight and build knowledge of our organization, its services, people and purpose in order to help our clients be successful.
  • Manages multiple client assignments and projects.
  • Reviews and sends monthly invoices to clients.
  • Keeps apprised of changes and updates to applicable legislation at the provincial and federal levels and in client jurisdictions.
  • Keep apprised of international developments in the regulatory bodies such as the International Association of Insurance Supervisors and be a contributor at regional conferences.
  • Ensures that quality control and service standards are attained.
  • Works alongside colleagues in the legal and investment teams to deliver on joint mandates.
  • FCIA or FSA with at least 10 years of experience.
  • Experience in life insurance is required - actuarial valuations, product pricing, risk based capital requirements.
  • Knowledge and use of Moody’s Analytics AXIS actuarial software.
  • Experience in pensions, general insurance, health insurance or social security would be an asset.
  • Having worked closely with or in a regulatory role would be an asset.
  • Understanding of IFSR 17 and its implications for insurers and regulators.
  • Proven ability to manage teams.
  • Proven ability to build strong client relationships.
  • International experience would be an asset.
  • Overseas travel is required.
  • Near term availability is also a plus.
