RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop new and enhance existing reports using a variety of tools.
  • Respond to ad-hoc data requests quickly and accurately.
  • Document data sets and transformations.
  • Work to clean, normalize, and augment data sets.
  • Analyze and document business requirements.
  • Identify key performance indicators.
  • Help shape overall BI/data warehouse strategy.
  • Assist in delivering self-service BI capabilities to end-users.
  • Review project requests from users.
  • Estimate time and cost required to accomplish projects.
  • Determine if project requires business process review, end-to-end creation, or modification of existing programs that access data stored in databases.
  • Lead and/or attend specification meetings with project team workers to determine scope and limitations of project. Keep manager informed of activities and situations which will impact the achievement of corporate and department goals and objectives.
  • Assist in testing and quality control of systems and data.
  • Perform other related duties as required to achieve the goals and objectives of the company and department.
  • Maintain confidentiality of company-sensitive data.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of industry experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel.
  • Data warehousing / database knowledge.
  • Visualization / presentation tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, Pyramid, etc.
  • Data ingestion/preparation tools such as Trifacta, Infomatica, TIBCO, etc.
  • Big Data / NoSQL fundamentals.
  • Ability to develop detailed documentation relating to a business solution.
  • Microsoft Office applications and Outlook.
  • Intermediate knowledge of SQL querying.
  • Strong inter-personal and communication skills for acting as a business liaison, making presentations, training users, and working closely with management.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely to non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems quickly and completely.
  • Ability to identify tasks which require automation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Solid understanding of computer technologies and the direction of new technologies.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and great attention to detail.
  • Ability to plan and organize effectively.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects with changing priorities and meet challenging deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working with consultants and vendors.
  • Preferred: Solid understanding of the insurance and reinsurance industry and how technology can be applied to improve the business process.
