  • Leads the identification, development, and implementation of strategic process improvements that significantly reduce workloads or improve quality across the team, business unit, and/or the organization for assigned area/s of responsibility.
  • Leads and enhances organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives within assigned area/s of responsibility.
  • Assesses, monitors and makes sound recommendations concerning the company’s ongoing risk and solvency position, providing input on valuation, pricing, product development, etc. that would affect the company’s financial position.
  • Strategically evaluates evolving industry and regulatory practice and contributes at an NAIC, ACLI, AAA level as necessary in a corporate oversight role, in partnership with the business units.
  • Establishes credibility and adds value to the actuarial processes and practices connected with the adequacy of the level of reserves and the ability to optimize the company’s financial position while minimizing risk.
  • Provides subject matter expertise on actuarial risk and the level of reserves.
  • Provides thought leadership on actuarial methodologies and practices and establishes effective working relationships throughout the organization, both at the corporate level and within the businesses.
  • Builds the technical capability to aide the decision-making process and discussions on business strategy.
  • Builds, leads and develops an actuarial team as necessary.
  • Teaches, coaches and communicates new analytics and processes to ensure they are embedded throughout the businesses, and monitors that new business practices are adapted as a result.
  • Develops and upgrades the quality of actuarial investigations into the financial condition of the company, and ensures continuous evaluation of the financial well-being of the business.
  • Contributes to business unit/operational and enterprise strategy creation for his/her assigned area/s of responsibility.
  • Ensures that top talent is hired and retained for his/her assigned area/s of responsibility.
  • Builds organizational capability within his/her assigned area/s of responsibility.
  • Leads/executes approved strategy for his/her assigned area/s of responsibility.
  • Provides thought leadership and advises senior management on actuarial strategies and risks.
  • Provides training and development opportunities, including stretch assignments, for team members and gives honest and open feedback to aid in the development of talent.
  • 4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • FSA Required.
  • 12+ Years of risk or financial/actuarial experience within the financial services and capital market industry that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position.
  • 5+ Years of senior management experience in a large complex organization including influencing senior management and critical stakeholder responsibility.
  • Strong presentation skills with demonstrated ability to influence at all levels of management through clear, informed and logical discussions/presentations.
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate knowledgeably and credibly with senior management and internal constituents.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
