RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Represent the Farm or Commercial product portfolio as a Subject matter expert on Product training initiatives for Distribution and Underwriting.
  • Ensures effective and efficient loss prevention and compliance strategies and processes are in place. Provides direction for Portfolio Loss Prevention Inspections.
  • Effectively manages and prioritizes multiple business initiatives, projects and ad-hoc analysis with key stakeholders. Provides leadership and direction for projects that impact the portfolio.
  • Consult with Underwriting Managers, Product Specialists and Underwriting Development Manager on case referrals as required.
  • Determines desired capacity requirements for reinsurance guidelines and makes recommendations for any changes needed.
  • Audits underwriting files to ensure guidelines are being followed from a portfolio perspective.
  • Active analysis for assigned portfolio with accountability for recommendations to identify opportunities for growth and profitability improvement. Responsible to develop and implement actions to support those recommendations.
  • Initiates and provides direction to create/amend base portfolio wordings to broaden or restrict coverage. Develops unique wordings in addition to the base wordings.
  • Works with the Product Specialist to ensure approval and sign off on compliance with standards.
  • Leads the development and formulation of business rules, underwriting guidelines, appetite and philosophy for the respective portfolio.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum 10 years extensive and progressive experience in Product environment.
  • Post-secondary education in Mathematics, Data Analytics or Actuarial Science.
  • Chartered Insurance Professional designation required & FCIP preferred.
  • Understanding of the commercial product coverages, pricing, exposure identification and external/internal factors that impact it.
  • Thorough knowledge of policy wordings, endorsements, rate manuals, Insurance Acts/legislation and tools and systems.
  • You have an innovative mindset to improve operational efficiencies and ability to influence change, with a primary focus on client needs.
  • You use critical thinking skills to recognize assumptions, evaluate arguments, draw conclusions and proactively propose solutions.
  • You have strong communication skills to clearly convey messages and explore diverse points of view.
  • You build trusting relationships and provide guidance to support the development of colleagues.
