  • Lead the day to day management of the R&D team. Coach and develop staff to achieve team and company goals and individual performance standards.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of actuarial bases for all product lines through an analysis of internal and external data and a thorough understanding of the distribution and risk landscape in the markets that we operate in.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of the Quantifying Insurance Risk framework across all lines of business through the calibration of probability distribution functions for Economic Capital.
  • Oversee the North American experience analyses for current in force treaties and lead the setting of best estimate assumptions.
  • Provide tangible support to the company Division as we develop cutting edge research to support our lines of business. This includes increasing our support to local R&D, Pricing, Underwriting & Marketing Teams in respect of product development, pricing innovation and ad-hoc projects.
  • Support the development of the business through delivering industry presentations, attending conferences and visiting clients to present research. Develop relationships with key contacts to strengthen existing business arrangements and to actively contribute to the generation of new growth opportunities.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics or related discipline.
  • Qualified Actuary with 5+ years post qualified experience in life insurance and/or life reinsurance.
  • Strong understanding of actuarial principles and processes.
  • Awareness of relevant systems including Access, Excel, SQL, Emblem, R, Tableau.
  • Strong analytical skills, combined with sound judgement and commercial awareness.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with people at all levels.
  • Direct or indirect experience of the markets in which we operate.
  • Team management and leadership experience.
  • Awareness of modern techniques such as data mining, multi-variate analysis and machine learning.
