RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs Statutory, Tax, and GAAP quarterly consolidated reporting for various business entities.
  • Investigates unexpected changes and tracks unresolved issues.
  • Ensures these items are appropriately documented. Summarizes the information in reports.
  • Assists in validation and consolidation of financial projections.
  • Provides support for the Company’s annual financial planning effort.
  • Provides support for Master Data Management including report building and business attribute management.
  • Provides support to senior actuaries and assists with special projects.
  • Contributes to the development, documentation, maintenance, and enhancement of processes, procedures, and controls. Coordinate these activities as assigned.
  • Serves as a liaison with other valuation, corporate, pricing, administration, systems, accounting, audit, and other finance associates.
  • Participates in department or cross-functional projects as needed and called upon.
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
  • Performs other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Math, Finance, Actuarial Sciences, Statistics or related field.
  • At least one of P, FM, MLC/MFE, and C actuarial exams completed.
  • Intermediate PC and technical skills, including database applications and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to compile, analyze, refine, and interpret large amounts of financial data/results and model projections.
  • Competent knowledge and understanding of actuarial concepts.
  • Ability to be flexible when needed, take initiative, and demonstrate accountability.
  • Intermediate oral and written communication skills demonstrating ability to share and impart knowledge.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new methods, work under tight deadlines and stressful conditions.
  • Ability to set goals, multitask and prioritize workload.
  • Intermediate investigative, analytical, and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to balance detail with departmental goals/objectives.
  • Intermediate interpersonal skills.
  • Able/Willing to work independently as well as part of multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to liaise with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional, and technical disciplines and work well with all levels of management.
  • General business knowledge.
  • Preferred:
  • Master’s degree in Math, Finance, Actuarial Sciences, Statistics or related field.
  • 1+ years of actuarial experience in life insurance.
  • Knowledge of Relational Database and SQL.
  • Ability to program in visual basic or equivalent.
  • Competent understanding of key insurance-related concepts, including life & annuity products, reinsurance contracts, and basic GAAP, Statutory, and tax accounting principles.
