RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Completes CAT assessments on individual accounts using vendor models and internal tools.
  • Explains CAT modeling concepts and results to underwriters to inform risk decisions.
  • Conducts periodic training for underwriters.
  • Works with the GRS team to incorporate view of risk into CAT modeling tools and platform.
  • Works regularly with the international vendor outsourcing team on modeling submissions. This involves uploading the company's onto the vendor’s portal site for the data scrubbing/cleansing, providing specific directions on each account, downloading and validating the cleansed data.
  • Contributes in all aspects of catastrophe analytics.
  • Manages projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 2-5 years’ experience with RMS / AIR CAT modeling and database management; CCM/CCRA designation is preferred.
  • Experience in SQL and understanding of RMS / AIR data structure is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Commercial Lines insurance, coverage forms, policy structure and risk factors.
  • Excellent quantitative and analytical abilities with theoretical knowledge of statistical techniques and/or data mining.
  • Knowledge and experience with Property and Workers Compensation CAT modeling is preferred.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills in reaching both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Skilled in critical thinking and analysis.
  • Detail oriented with the mindset to validate results, question inconsistencies, present possible alternatives, and back up opinions.
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional and multi-location team is a requirement.
  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Economics, Science or Engineering is preferred.
