RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Statutory reporting, US GAAP/IFRS reserving for APAC region, Best Estimate Reserve valuation for APAC region.
  • Lead the annual and quarterly statutory process for L&H portfolio.
  • Ensure robust controls and documentation supporting the statutory reporting framework for L&H portfolio.
  • Support the external appointed/certifying actuaries in HK/Singapore in the preparation for the actuarial opinions and reports.
  • Support the local Chief Risk Officer as required.
  • Perform the quarterly reserving process.
  • Update and document the process/results.
  • Prepare the quarterly APAC interview for the result review.
  • Support the “pricing-reserving feedback loop” process.
  • Support the quarterly review with the auditors.
  • Ensure SOX compliance.
  • Conduct Experience Analysis Studies as per annual plan.
  • Set up Best Estimate Assumptions.
  • Produce Best Estimate Reserves.
  • Prepare the Analysis of Variance.
  • Produce sensitivities and shocks.
  • Support VIF, BMA and SII process where relevant.
  • Update and document the process/results.
  • Develop technical knowledge.
  • Be the expert for APAC region within L&H reserving.
  • Be a key reserving contact with L&H APAC CEO, L&H APAC pricing actuaries, regional L&H Finance and Operation teams and Asia CFO and CRO.
  • Specify data requirements to the Operation teams
  • Coordinate with L&H reserving actuaries from other locations to facilitate the consolidation of the various closing processes.
  • Support key group projects.
  • Ad-hoc projects as defined by the management.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Fellow of the SAS or equivalent institutes.
  • Qualified Actuary with 7-10 years working experience in life reserving or pricing in the reinsurance field, or related actuarial experience.
  • Strong IT and data management skills.
  • Knowledge of MoSes/Risk Agility, visual basic, R and Business Objects would be an advantage.
  • Ability to bring ideas to challenge existing approaches and develop new ones.
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency in English.
  • High motivation, organized, team-orientation but with an ability to work independently.
  • Keen to work with other cultures.
