RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide underwriters with adequate and profitable pricing guidelines for individual accounts and for segments / lines of business.
  • Prepare information for analysis of line of business experience and assessment of rate adequacy/profitability.
  • Conduct commercial automobile rate indications and prepare associated rate filings.
  • Participate in strategic decision-making for improving the profitability of the business by supporting strategic initiatives with the necessary data and analyses to inform the right decisions.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s Degree in actuarial science, mathematics, economics or statistics or equivalent. - 2 years' actuarial experience.
  • University degree with a specialization in actuarial science, statistics, mathematics, finance, accounting or economics.
  • Successful completion of a minimum of 4 exams of the Society of Actuaries or the Casualty Actuarial Society, but more knowledge or exams would be an asset.
  • 3 -5 years of relevant prior work experience in an actuarial analyst role or similar.
  • Commitment to completion of the actuarial exams offered by the Casualty Actuarial Society.
  • Strong computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office. Excellent working knowledge of Excel is essential.
  • Knowledge of actuarial science and insurance. Some knowledge of pricing, reserving and finance.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving skills including innovation and out-of-the-box thinking.
  • Basic project and time management skills.
  • Ability to work and build relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to explain complex subjects simply and effectively.
  • Highly motivated to meet requirements of position and to provide quality services.
