RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Calculate monthly reserves for the retirement business segment according to US GAAP, IFRS, US Statutory and Tax accounting requirements and actuarial principles, and analyze the results.
  • Compile information for schedules and exhibits included in the Quarterly and Annual Financial Statements for all accounting bases.
  • Perform reserve trend analysis and detailed roll-forward of reserves for all accounting bases, including reconciliations and variance analysis.
  • Implement and maintain processes and procedures for valuation, analysis, and reporting of the retirement business segment.
  • Process year-end valuation materials.
  • Provide support for any audit of financial statements.
  • Perform annual asset adequacy testing for the retirement business segment.
  • Coordinate with other internal and external teams to ensure smooth continued valuation operations.
  • Provide support for any reinsurance solutions on the retirement block, including captive insurance companies and surplus relief, in addition to traditional forms of reinsurance.
  • Ensure other supporting valuation data provided to modeling for the plan as needed for the retirement business.
  • Prepare memos to communicate results to senior management and external stakeholders.
  • Peer review the work of other members of the valuation team.
  • Cross reviewing protection business results where necessary and cross training other teammates on PRT tasks.
  • Maintain compliance with industry professional development guidelines.
  • Other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • BS/BA Math/Statistics.
  • ASA close to FSA, or recent FSA.
  • 5 years’ life insurance/actuarial experience including Valuation.
  • Prior Experience with Pension Risk Transfer agreements.
  • Excellent/Proficient written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills.
  • Actuarial software skills.
  • Database/Spreadsheet capabilities including programming.
  • Strong documentation skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong actuarial analytical skills and problem solving ability.
  • Self-motivated.
