RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide support with the development, implementation and continual improvement of an effective risk management framework.
  • Support with the oversight of first line risk management; Identification, management, mitigation and reporting of the company's risk profile, including insurance, investment, market, demographic, catastrophe, liquidity, credit, regulatory. legal, operational and reputational risks.
  • Provide and communicate effective second line challenge to first line, including document second line review of all first line proposals for all committee approvals, and communication of challenge within the Reinsurance Capital Committee.
  • Develop tools and models to increase understanding of the Company’s risk exposures.
  • Monitor and encourage a supportive risk culture.
  • Monitor strategic risk and consider the risks arising due to strategy, market and regulatory events.
  • Present a sound understanding of good corporate governance; monitor and lead good corporate governance practice for Board and Other Committee members.
  • Manage the outsourced compliance function jointly with the CRO.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Fully qualified life actuary.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in actuarial reporting and/or pricing for Life insurance is required.
  • Experience with market and investments risks and/or second-line risk management within an insurance / reinsurance company is desirable.
  • Excellent business communication, presentation and report writing skills.
  • Proven ability to team effectively, as well as lead projects and work proactively with limited oversight.
  • Technically able and commercially aware, with a strong, demonstrated understanding of the wider business, economic, market and regulatory environment in which the business operates.
  • Ability to demonstrate Professional ability, integrity and a balanced, broad view, with sufficient confidence to justify, at the Board level, judgment-based decisions with strong rationale.
