RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee the aspects of the annual budgeting and forecasting process, including forecasted premium and losses for each line of business across the enterprise.
  • Oversee the P&C reinsurance program administration functions to include estimating catastrophe IBNR, reinsurance recoveries, allocations and support annual statutory statement preparation and filings.
  • Develop and refine methodologies and processes and support the presentation of such efforts to executive management, boards of directors, regulatory authorities, auditors, reinsurance intermediaries, reinsurers, rating agencies and other interested parties.
  • Develop and direct the professional actuarial staff and related support positions, ensuring they are able to perform to expected levels of performance, including training on current actuarial methodologies and standard industry practices.
  • Complete the mandated reports including the Statement of Actuarial Opinion, the Executive Summary of findings and full detailed reserve reports.
  • Assist the P&C Corporate Actuarial department with other special projects on a regular as needed basis.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • “Qualified Actuary” - qualifications set forth by the CAS and NAIC must be satisfied prior to hiring and maintained throughout employment.
  • A college degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, or a related field, or the equivalent, is preferred
  • ACAS or FCAS (preferred) with satisfactory completion/maintenance of CAS Continuing Education requirements
  • Minimum twelve years actuarial experience; five years in management a plus
  • Experience implementing loss reserve software a plus
  • Professional image and strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Thorough understanding of and ability to apply and communicate actuarial principles is essential
  • Ability to work effectively with others and motivate and manage other’s work product
  • Experience leading a multi-site team
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage several projects at the same time
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Access and Word
  • Self-motivated and attentive to details
  • Ability to anticipate questions and issues that may arise
