RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for a portfolio of treaty renewals.
  • Prepare facultative arrangement quotes and provide support as needed on portfolio quotes.
  • Participate in the establishment of suitable actuarial assumptions for quotes.
  • Assess profitability of special quotes and negotiate best approach with client.
  • Recommend approach and strategy for communication to client.
  • Analysis and review of pricing basis, by products and recommendation for updates.
  • Build strong and productive relationships with key counterparts at insurers.
  • Provide advice and support to client companies on group underwriting and pricing of complex quotes.
  • Commit the company to acceptance, pricing and terms of Special Acceptance and Facultative risks within authority limits.
  • Participate in group underwriting audits of client companies.
  • Maintain and improve the audit guidelines, tools and procedures.
  • Actively participate in the preparation and delivery of the company’s value added services including: group underwriting support, training and benchmarking.
  • Participate in the business development and develop strong and trusting relationship with existing and potential clients.
  • Provide key support in the development of new group reinsurance solutions and new group products.
  • Actively involved with industry associations and groups.
  • Key support in the optimal delivery of treaties, and ensure client communication and wording negotiation.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 10 years + of group underwriting and/or pricing experience.
  • FSA Designation.
  • Software proficiency: MS Office, AXIS, ACCESS.
  • Bilingual, English and French, spoken and written.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Strong understanding of group insurance products.
  • Creative and flexible while showing good judgment.
  • Solid actuarial technical skills with a strong understanding of the factors that shape product profitability.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Sense of organization and detail oriented.
  • Self-managing with an ability to take initiative.
