RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform pricing, modeling, risk analysis and structuring activities in support of proposed transactions, or amendments to existing transactions in a timely manner consistent with applicable standards.
  • Working closely with the pricing team to assess and analyze risk exposure in potential transactions and document these risks for the operating entities.
  • Support discussions with rating agencies over obtaining and maintaining suitable ratings for the operating entities.
  • Support discussions with banks and other third parties over debt funding arrangements and collateral structures.
  • Assist in the design of internal and external reinsurance transactions and lead discussions on risk issues with internal and external clients.
  • Develop and maintain adequate and timely documentation of personal work in compliance with relevant Actuarial Standards of Practices.
  • Assist business development associates by building proof-of-concept models for new opportunities or new reinsurance solutions for our clients.
  • Act as a trusted business partner.
  • Participate in due diligence work on case activity, specifically appraisal and treaty review.
  • Be willing to travel extensively, principally to the US, UK and Bermuda.
  • Update documentation of pricing policies and procedures as required. Recommend, implement and document enhancements to the pricing process.
  • Assist risk management personnel with monitoring experience of in-force treaties.
  • Review the actuarial financial reporting work done by the outside actuary for operating entities, including Bermuda reserves, appraisals, and GAAP reserves.
  • Participate in key unit and ad-hoc department projects as needed.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Math, Finance, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Computer Science or related field.
  • FSA Certification.
  • 7+ years of actuarial experience in Life Insurance/Reinsurance
  • Preferred: Asset intensive product experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong actuarial experience in risk and pricing.
  • International Insurance experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of life reinsurance, longevity, and/or annuity products.
  • Highly advanced investigative, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Advanced understanding of actuarial and risk principles.
  • Advanced knowledge of broad business and finance-related practices.
  • Ability to take ownership in projects and drive them to completion.
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to convey business terminology that is meaningful and well received.
  • Ability to balance detail with departmental goals/objectives.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and/or teams simultaneously.
  • Ability to liaise with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional, and technical disciplines, internally and externally.
  • Preferred:
  • Advanced knowledge of key financial reporting, accounting, and solvency regimes, including US GAAP, US Statutory, and US tax; IFRS; MCEV / EV / EEV; Bermuda Solvency and Solvency II.
  • Ability to model various insurance products and reinsurance structures.
  • Experience with actuarial modeling software.
  • Ability to challenge and enhance our analytical capabilities.
  • Understanding of asset modeling and ALM techniques, including derivatives, and capital markets approaches.
