RESPONSIBILITIES
  • You will contribute to various projects which may include:
  • Insurance Companies, Self-Insurance and Captives -Valuation of liabilities, transition to IFRS 17, professional liability, and risk retention and optimization.
  • Enterprise Risk Management- Enterprise risk assessment, financial risk and economic capital modeling, capital management, and reinsurance optimization.
  • Rate analysis - from traditional to advanced analytics.
  • Mergers, Acquisitions and Restructuring - Due diligence, support in sales and capital raising, corporate restructuring and rehabilitation, reinsurance and financing alternatives.
  • Perform technical review of work products.
  • Contribute to the development of new tools and approaches.
  • Build strong relationships internally and collaborate effectively on cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrate natural ease and effectiveness when dealing with clients/colleagues at all levels.
  • Serve as mentor to project team associates.
  • Deliver work in accordance to project deadlines.
  • Serve as the project manager on some projects, including:
  • Serve as the day to day project lead, ensuring the progress of the team against established objectives, budget, timeline, deliverables and quality standards.
  • Deliver on projects to meet or exceed client expectations.
  • Increase efficiency within client teams by identifying ways to improve processes.
  • Creating project plans.
  • Monitoring progress to deadlines and budget.
  • Serve as primary, daily contact to clients on delivery of services.
  • Scheduling and managing regular status meeting calls.
  • Ensuring appropriate and effective communication among team members and the client.
  • Manage client expectations and raise appropriate issues to Senior Consultants and Client Relationships Managers.
  • Participate in software demonstrations and client training.
  • Meet chargeable hours’ targets.
  • Contribute to sales and marketing efforts by drafting proposals and responding to RFPs.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • FCAS/FCIA or ACAS/ACIA with a minimum 6 years’ experience in an insurance, actuarial or financial environment.
  • Deep experience in reserving, ERM/ECM and pricing.
  • Well organized and detail oriented.
  • Strong analytical skills including ability to draw conclusions and identify trends from data in a logical, systematic way.
  • Proven experience successfully handling multiple projects and producing quality deliverables on time and within budget.
  • Strong interpersonal and team skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; strong client service orientation.
  • Flexibility and proven ability to diagnose and resolve issues.
  • Enjoys training/mentoring junior staff.
  • The ability to see the “big picture,” leveraging the resources of related practices to address the clients’ business challenges.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel.
  • Knowledge of the company software an asset.
  • Availability to travel on a limited basis.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science required.
  • Membership in the Casualty Actuarial Society and the Canadian Institute of Actuaries is mandatory.
