  • Develop and maintain the commercial insurance segmentation strategy.
  • Use GLM tools to enhance accuracy of the segmentation algorithms.
  • Drive a balanced approach between technical considerations as well as business objectives to ensure maximum impact.
  • Be able to clearly demonstrate the value of predictive analytics to non-actuaries.
  • Lead the financial planning work for commercial insurance.
  • Coordinate with the other actuarial teams, finance and branches to project the performance of the commercial business and the impact of the profitability initiatives.
  • Supervise staff and motivate them to perform at their best level.
  • Coach junior staff members to develop their technical and personal skills.
  • Act as a role model for the company values and inspire others to follow them.
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders at the head office and the field.
  • Identify the needs of our partners and tailor solutions that serve their needs and maximize value for commercial insurance.
  • Lead rate reviews for commercial P&C products.
  • Proactively monitor trends, mix of business and changes in operational practices that affect the performance of commercial insurance.
  • Effectively communicate the results of the rate reviews to all stakeholders and propose appropriate rating changes.
  • Oversee regular monitoring processes and maintenance of rating tools.
  • Seek improvement in existing processes and procedures to improve effectiveness and accuracy.
  • Be forward thinking and adapt models and techniques to changes in business requirements, product and data structure.
  • Insurance Property and Casualty pricing experience.
  • 6 plus years' actuarial experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent negotiation, interpersonal and supervisory skills.
  • Strong organizational skills showing attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.

  • Prior experience as a supervisor or team leader.
  • University degree in a related discipline.
  • Successful completion of ACAS or higher.
