  • Lead actuary responsible for Value of New Business calculation to support Embedded Value reporting, including:
  • Working with product-specific projection leaders to build well-defined, controlled processes and procedures for calculating VNB each period.
  • Developing analytical tools to enable better understanding of VNB and comparisons to Corporate Goals VNB.
  • Developing reports, memos and documentation needed to effectively communicate VNB results and explain changes to period over period.
  • Collaborate with pricing area to ensure consistency between VNB models.
  • Leverage VNB models to improve current new business projections for corporate model.
  • Lead actuary responsible for the reconciliation of product cashflows between pricing models and PolySystems, including:
  • Collaborating with pricing team to develop defined and agreed upon process for reconciliation, including appropriate documentation of findings and coordination with pricing to determine appropriate solutions when necessary.
  • Reconciliation of all projected cashflows needed to represent Stat and GAAP income statements and balance sheets.
  • Assist the VP Projection Actuary in advanced analytics related to in force modeling, which may include:
  • Analysis of period over period projection results at a company and product level, explaining, documenting and communicating changes.
  • Dynamic validations of projection models at a company and product level.
  • Support other areas of the company when question arise about actual experience, reinsurance notices, possible acquisitions, etc.
  • Develop tools to support analysis of results more effectively, including implementation of visual analysis techniques.
  • Provide modeling support and advanced analytics for all projection initiatives, including some or all of the following:
  • Business plan.
  • Embedded Value.
  • Annual cash flow testing and RBC exercise.
  • International Capital Standards.
  • Other modeling or projection initiatives as assigned.
  • 5-10 years of actuarial experience with focus on pricing, modeling or financial reporting.
  • Experience with PolySystems and/or ALFA required.
  • Knowledge of Statutory and U.S. GAAP valuation methodologies.
  • Actuarial Fellowship or Associate designation and Member American Academy of Actuaries.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to communicate complex actuarial topics to both actuaries and non-actuaries.
  • Able to work well with other employees.
  • Experience working in a collaborative environment.
  • Experience with Asset/Liability Modeling.
  • Strong project management skills.
