RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support ongoing processes such as monthly, quarterly and year-end financial reporting, reinsurance, experience studies, product development, and product management Support of the processes includes data gathering, model development, timely execution of responsibilities and analysis of results for reasonableness and accuracy.
  • Requires the use of highly specialized valuation, statistical, and actuarial modeling software in meeting strict deadlines.
  • Automate internal processes using various PC software applications and programming languages. This responsibility includes the identification of where efficiencies from automation can be gained as well as the design, development, testing and maintenance of automation tools.
  • Identify opportunities, develop strategies and implement procedures to streamline or improve workflow. Provide technical and feasibility recommendations to assist with improvements in efficiency, project planning and cost benefit analysis.
  • Complete various projects within the team as required. Completion will mainly be provided through the development of databases, spreadsheets and implementation of modelling enhancements.
  • Assume responsibility for quantifying, validating and communicating results of actuarial projects and processes to their manager and other team associates.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Level I candidates require 0-3 years of experience and Level II candidates require a minimum of 4-6+ years of experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or Actuarial Science or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Actuarial and accounting training and/or equivalent experience is a plus.
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access is required.
  • Basic understanding of accounting methodologies is required.
  • Basic understanding of programming languages required. Specific knowledge of SAS, MG-ALFA or Visual Basic considered a plus.
