  • Provide Senior Management a view on the quality of the book of business and any emerging trends which will impact business quality going forward.
  • Monitoring the impact of business decisions including rate or underwriting changes to ensure the impact is in line with expectations.
  • Work with analytics group to develop robust and automated monitoring framework.
  • Support regional pricing and business development teams in understanding their mix of business and advising on adjustments as needed.
  • Support regional pricing and business development teams in analyzing retention, growth and profitability with an objective to improve business quality.
  • Lead regular meetings with senior leadership highlighting insights observed during the reporting period, root causes and stimulating active discussion and debate.
  • Partner with Segment Managers and Regional Pricing Managers and challenge the business to outperform against targets and deliver on its strategic imperatives.
  • Provide ad hoc analysis for deep dives into key areas where additional insight is required.
  • Support VP Technical Pricing and Personal Insurance Leadership in providing insights and transparency in to the quality of the personal insurance book of business to other senior leaders within the organization.
  • Foster strong relationships with Actuarial Pricing, Segment Managers, Business Development and Performance Management to ensure understanding and effective and efficient delivery of stakeholder needs.
  • Promote high performance culture built on joint accountability, collaboration, work ethic, positive attitude and desire to challenge for greater goals and continuous improvement.
  • Post-secondary education in Mathematics, Statistics or Actuarial Science.
  • ACAS designation.
  • 5-7 years’ Actuarial experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years pricing experience including leading a mix of actuary and non-actuary teams.
  • At least 2 years’ management experience preferred.
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to build consensus and influence effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clear, concise and on the mark analysis and commentary to target audiences.
  • Ability to distil large amounts of data into key insights and areas of opportunity.
  • Hands-on as well as managerial experience in scripting/coding including in modern languages like Python and R.
  • Superior interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with business functions and executive business partners.
  • Superior analytical skills with an insatiable desire to probe, question, validate and challenge to ensure accurate and insightful analysis.
  • Superior change agent skills with the ability and appetite to drive continuous improvement in cross functional finance processes and insights to better support the business.
  • Superior organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently in a fast paced environment, while adhering to strict deadlines.
  • Deep understanding of the Property & Casualty Insurance business.
