  • Assuring the quality of technical risk reviews and acceptances, especially for complex reinsurance products, including premium calculation and stipulation of reinsurance conditions in accordance with underwriting guidelines, internal rules, authorities, targets, and client strategies.
  • Handling client relations, identifying and developing new business potential and new clients in collaboration with Client Management
  • Close monitoring of responsible facultative accounts’ performance and maintenance of Forecast.
  • Compiling, implementing and executing line-of-business-, client- and market- strategies.
  • Providing the Regional Casualty Underwriting Community as a senior specialist/training in the respective class of business, designing the content of and conducting seminars/workshops for internal and external training courses and participation in events.
  • Participation in projects/initiatives and in designing individually tailored/innovative solutions.
  • Assuming special tasks, e.g. heading and supporting departmental and cross-departmental working groups and projects.
  • University degree, preferably in an Economics, Mathematics, Science or Law-related discipline, or insurance qualifications; preferably with about 7-8 years in primary insurance and/or reinsurance in these fields of Casualty.
  • Profound risk assessment, pricing and wording know-how in Casualty classes.
  • Preferably a specialization in financial lines, cyber, and/or product liability Experience in underwriting international liability programs including US exposure and non- standard coverages and exposures.
  • Good statistics/data warehouse and MS office applications knowledge; familiar with underwriting and pricing tools.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and solution-oriented skills, coupled with the ability to think out of the box.
  • Strong team player with own initiative combined with a willingness to assume responsibility.
  • Negotiation and presentations skills as well as cultural awareness for the Japanese context.
  • Excellent business English language and proficient knowledge of Japanese highly desirable.
