RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Analyze and provide direction on the company’s traditional reinsurance arrangements with an eye towards proactive changes to inforce block of business.
  • Support treaty changes or new treaty development, as needed.
  • Evaluate, analyze and respond to reinsurer initiated changes including, but not limited to;
  • Assumption development and modeling needed for appraising blocks of business.
  • Analyze financial impacts of all options on a GAAP and Statutory basis.
  • Ability to evaluate creative solutions.
  • Present all viable options and recommend best options.
  • Lead and implement changes to inforce reinsurance arrangements.
  • Monitor outcomes of changes as appropriate in reinsurance operations and reinsurance developments.
  • Assess the impact of the company initiated changes on inforce reinsurance arrangements and create the messaging to communicate to the reinsurers.
  • Provides subject matter expertise and ability to challenge the current reinsurance model.
  • Provides direction on complex assignments, projects, and/or initiatives to build and enhance the capability of assigned area/s of responsibility.
  • Directs team on articulated strategic direction to continually improve the capability and results for the Life Reinsurance team.
  • Provides operational direction related to inforce life reinsurance, with focus on adhesion to best practices.
  • Establishes and implements priorities, performance goals and objectives to ensure group results.
  • Directs and evaluates individual/team performance and takes appropriate action to meet and/or exceed performance standards.
  • Provides training and development opportunities, including stretch assignments, for team members and gives honest and open feedback to aid in the development of talent.
  • Builds and maintains relationship with appropriate management and internal/external stakeholders.
  • Provides management with recommendations on reinsurance transactions.
  • Directs and enhances organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives.
  • Identifies and directs the implementation of process improvements that significantly improve quality across the team, department and/or business unit.
  • Develops, implements and executes solutions for Life Reinsurance on inforce business.
  • Leads projects or programs with moderate resource requirements, risk and/or complexity.
  • Provides subject matter expertise to team members and applicable internal/external stakeholders on complex assignments/projects.
  • Ensure group's processes and procedures are compliant.
  • Maintains knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends, assess the impact and collaborates with management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future solutions.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5 7+ Years’ experience in actuarial science that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position.
  • Undergraduate degree in Actuarial Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or other quantitative major.
  • FSA designation or ASA designation with additional years’ actuarial experience.
