RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage a broad range of consulting services and audit support assignments, as well as coach junior staff in their technical and professional career development.
  • Will work closely with our senior actuaries on our appointed actuary services including actuarial liability valuation and financial condition testing, product development, mergers & acquisition, advisory services on new IFRS and a variety of other consulting work.
  • Will support the accounting teams to identify and review financial risk issues related to the actuarial aspects of the audit. This includes managing the actuarial reviews and analyzing client information in order to conclude whether the actuarial liabilities are fairly presented in the financial statements.
  • Will work directly with actuaries and other actuarial students on a variety of projects, including cross-functional projects with other departments within the company. Findings and recommendations to non-actuarial teams must be presented in a clear and non-technical manner.
  • Will also participate in business development activities such as development of service proposals and quotes, industry presentations, marketing material, as well fostering good communication with our clients to support relationship building.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • qualified Actuary as a P&C actuary; consulting experience preferred but not required.
  • Experience in policy liability valuation and Financial Condition Testing is required; pricing experience would be considered an asset.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple, concurrent priorities.
  • Experience in managing or coaching staff.
  • Proficiency in reserving or statistical applications such as Arius, R, @Risk, or other is an asset.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Interpersonal, management and presentation skills.
  • Commitment to client service and business ethics.
