  • Provide actuarial support for rate and rule filings associated with workers compensation filings. NCCI knowledge, deviations to existing rating plans, and production of rate indications. Interact with Product, Compliance, IT and Legal teams and respond to state departments of insurance objections.
  • Support the commercial lines state review process by developing pricing strategies, measuring portfolio management initiatives and performing profitability analyses.
  • Collaboration with other commercial lines actuaries and analytics teams to help support analysis and communication to business partners.
  • Report out to our business partners on rate actions and impacts by line and segment. Be able to identify areas of concern and propose pricing and underwriting actions where appropriate.
  • Be able to properly reflect the impact of both internal and external premium and loss trends in forecasting ultimate loss and alae ratios across the workers compensation segments.
  • Identify inefficiencies or gaps in current processes and take initiative to improve existing processes and tools and/or develop new processes and tools as needed. Other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required, preferred areas of study include: Actuarial Sciences, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field with a mathematical, statistical or numerate background.
  • Demonstrated success on Actuarial exams, preferably ACAS or FCAS level.
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong time management skills are required to respond to ad hoc requests while continuing to produce scheduled work and analysis.
  • Advanced MS Office skills, Excel in particular. SQL & Access are preferred.
  • 4 - 7 or more years of experience in the Actuarial discipline and the ability to complete projects/analysis that require knowledge of advanced actuarial concepts and methods and/or advanced analytic approaches.
  • Intermediate programming skills including experience with SQL and VBA.
