  • In charge of maintaining existing seriatim valuation/projection models as well as adding new clients/products to the reserving process.
  • Perform the seriatim financial projections for market consistent embedded value analysis, for best estimate liabilities and for the Operating Plan.
  • Perform the quarterly reserve calculations relating to seriatim life insurance business - Individual Life, Critical illness, Long Term Disability, Longevity, Group Life & Health - in accordance with IFRS and Canadian regulatory principles.
  • Prepare and review actuarial information for entry into Accounting System Omega and reconcile actuarial results to Omega.
  • Process data for actuarial valuation models.
  • Prepare data for mortality and lapse experience studies and analyze results.
  • Work with Operation team to identify and resolve issues related to data and assist in conversion project.
  • Provide support to other areas such as finance, Appointed Actuary, operations, etc.
  • Ensure that appropriate and auditable controls, reconciliations and documentation are maintained with respect to valuation, projections, and models.
  • Utilize technology to perform job functions more efficiently and to further automate the reserving and modelling processes.
  • Complete special assignments and projects for the department as necessary.
  • May perform other duties as required.
  • B.Sc in Actuarial Science or other relevant quantitative major (e.g. Mathematics, Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science), with demonstrated record of academic excellence.
  • Must have 5+ years’ experience with actuarial valuation.
  • Knowledge of AXIS valuation software.
  • Proficiency in windows-based software (Excel, Access, etc.).
  • Strong analytical skills with strong problem-solving ability.
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills.
  • Highly motivated/self-starter.
  • Must be able to work effectively independently & as part of a team.
  • Ability to work extended hours as necessary to meet deadlines.
  • Building & maintaining relationships with colleagues throughout the Group.
