RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Evaluates allocation of capital across the enterprise and recommends modifications to improve efficiency.
  • Leads the internal capital allocation process which integrates with other strategic, business, risk and capital planning activities at the enterprise and line of business levels.
  • Develops, enhances and maintains models used in the capital planning process to support business objectives and long-term sustainability by providing management with key insights influencing the enterprise’s success.
  • Manages the capital budget for the organization by developing capital goals and return targets and ensures that capital is efficiently used to maximize member and policyholder value.
  • Closely collaborates with key stakeholders and recommends capital allocation to senior management.
  • Liaisons with regulators on capital related inquiries, concerns or exams.
  • For business opportunities, collaborates with external valuation firms and assists with the assessment of a merger, acquisition or disposition.
  • Evaluates new lines of business and strategic partnerships for feasibility and merit or the disposition of existing businesses or partnerships.
  • Working with financial reporting, prepares proforma financial statements displaying the impact of the business opportunity on enterprise capital.
  • Analyzes complex financial data, understands valuation methodologies and theories and explains conclusions in easy-to-understand language.
  • Develops and maintains a funds transfer pricing process as a means of identifying the strength and weakness of products and lines of business within the enterprise.
  • Establishes return targets and risk return measures for business lines. Reviews intercompany cash flows and expense allocations.
  • Provides financial modeling and project justification for investment projects across the enterprise.
  • Reviews requests for capital projects and provides critical examination of investment merits and risks.
  • Conducts post-implementation analytics on completed projects and presents key learnings to decision-makers to improve future investments.
  • Performs ad-hoc analyses in support of a wide range of activities.
  • Assists with preparation of Board/Committee materials.
  • Develops and maintains job documentation and procedures. Complies with department and company procedures and processes.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Math, Accounting or closely related field.
  • Master degree in a related field, actuarial exams and/or professional designation
  • Capital modeling.
  • Developing complex financial/mathematical models.

  • Developing and applying cost and related accounting principles and methods.
  • Analyzing complex financial data.
  • Developing and implementing new financial systems.
