RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Technical modeling of the sales and claims experience.
  • Monitoring the portfolio performance.
  • Undertaking pricing reviews of the portfolio.
  • Providing advice and assistance into the annual budgeting process.
  • Conducting monthly valuations of the outstanding claims liabilities.
  • Review current pricing structure of the portfolio in conjunction with the Actuarial Manager.
  • Production of technical models into the pricing framework.
  • Analyze and monitor the effectiveness of rate changes and produce a monthly report on the portfolio results compared to budget.
  • Ongoing development of the pricing models to enable effective pricing of the products -Identify areas of the portfolio that require attention and make recommendations for changes where necessary.
  • Analyze competitor information and identify areas requiring further investigation.
  • Provide support and guidance to junior team members.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Tertiary qualifications in Actuarial, Mathematics/Statistics, Commerce or related field essential.
  • Fellow/Associate of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia (or similar).
  • 3-5 year’s actuarial experience in personal lines General Insurance.
  • Experience with statistical modelling techniques including GLM, GBM etc.
  • Experience in portfolio analysis.
  • Understanding of risk factors and pricing methods.
  • High level of PC skills including SAS/R/Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze information and make recommendations.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly, concisely, and in a professional manner.
  • Ability to work collaboratively to tight deadlines.
  • Understanding the link between reserving, pricing and portfolio monitoring.
  • Ability to develop and implement innovative improvements.
  • Strong accounting principles and understanding of the general insurance industry products.
