RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist Senior Manager with developing, recommending and implementing investment and hedging strategies for the Reinsurance portfolios.
  • Supervise analysts and facilitate financial and management reporting activities for the investment portfolio as well as presentations to executives of the Insurance and Treasury and Balance Sheet Management.
  • Take ownership and drive the management of resources, tools and processes to optimize the balance sheet of the portfolios, while working with the key stakeholders
  • Work closely with the appointed investment manager to measure and manage investment related risks, including ensuring proper matching of asset and liability positions, ensuring appropriate levels of liquidity and assessing and managing credit exposure.
  • Prepare presentation material for various senior executive meetings such as the ALCO and Board meetings.
  • Play the lead role in providing monthly forecasts, as well as analysis and reconciliation of investment results.
  • Work with stakeholders from finance and actuarial areas to analyze the implications of adopting new accounting and actuarial regulatory guidelines.
  • Make improvements to and streamline the various reporting processes.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • An advanced degree (Masters or above) or a strong undergraduate degree.
  • 5 years of work experience in an insurance area controls environment, preferably in risk management or finance, and maturity in working in a large organization.
  • Experience in actuarial consulting, risk management, internal or external audit, or other governance roles an asset.
  • Decent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and in teams.
  • Superior multi-tasking skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, often deadline-oriented and dynamic environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to proactively identify issues and recommend solutions
  • High degree of organizational awareness and sensitivity - strong ability to manage productive relationships with business partners and stakeholders.

  • Ability to operate in an evolving, sometimes ambiguous, environment.
