  • Acts as a key contact for other departments regarding actuarial reporting and profitability analyses for all lines of business of the company and its insurance subsidiaries, with guidance from Director, Corporate Actuarial.
  • Analyzes and explains monthly and quarterly financial results to stakeholders with a focus on policy liabilities.
  • Performs drill-down studies on observed trends from monitoring reports and communicates findings
  • Ensures that all reports and communication are compliant with internal company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Assists, where necessary, in special corporate strategic projects such as Public Company Readiness, IFRS, mergers & acquisitions, etc.
  • University Degree in Actuarial Science or a relevant discipline.
  • Must have at least 5 years of relevant full-time actuarial or P&C financial reporting experience.
  • Must have a strong understanding of Property & Casualty industry trends and profitability metrics.
  • Must have a good understanding of how loss experience and reserve analyses impact internal/external financial reports.
  • Must be able to stay current with regulatory reporting requirements and ensure reports are in compliance.
  • Must possess strong knowledge of Microsoft applications (Excel, Access, etc.) and Financial Reporting tools like Hyperion.
  • Must possess strong working knowledge of Canadian P&C Insurance Accounting and Actuarial requirements.
  • Very strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to explain complex experience trends in simple terms to non-actuaries.
  • Professional, friendly and courteous in all interactions, whether with customers or co-workers.
  • Perform well in a busy operation and remain calm under pressure.
  • Strong people and project management skills.
  • Team player adaptable to a changing environment.
  • Must have organizational skills and an ability to promote and supervise a team effort towards project completion.
