RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage the team’s operations by organizing, planning and controlling optimal use of human, financial and material resources according to company strategies and within the approved budget.
  • Manage the members of his or her group responsible for actuarial research and work (reserves, financial projections, budget, contribution to regulatory requirements, etc.) and provide them with technical advice.
  • Make appropriate recommendations, based on reports by actuarial analysts, to improve the performance of products and services.
  • Ensure appropriate communication with other Actuarial departments and Finance during budget processes and valuation of liabilities.
  • Manage performance reviews, training and coaching for members of his or her group in order to attain the company’s strategic objectives.
  • Represent the Actuarial function on various company task forces and act as the point of contact for other business units.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • University degree in Actuarial Sciences or Mathematics, with ACAS/FCAS designation.
  • At least 7 years of relevant experience, including 2 years of coaching/supervising a team.
  • Superior skills in negotiating, gaining commitment and building strategic relationships.
  • Work experience in property and casualty insurance, specifically in pricing.
  • Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office, SAS and VBA.
  • Good planning and organizational skills and the ability to delegate responsibilities.
  • Skills in coaching, individual development and driving engagement.
  • Recognized competency in leading change.
