  • Model Developer role - responsible for developing, quantifying, and implementing enhancements to models, methods, procedures, and systems.
  • Manage the development of financial projections that feed into quarterly financial reporting (Economic Capital, Asset-Liability Management, Cash Flow Testing, Financial Plan).
  • Participate in the evaluation of top industry actuarial platforms by testing each system to determine which can best meet future strategic, regulatory, and accounting needs across the modeling and valuation functions.
  • Build new actuarial models to support modeling and valuation in the chosen actuarial platform with an eye for accuracy, efficiency, controls, and scalability.
  • Incorporate emerging regulatory and accounting requirements into actuarial models (i.e, Principles Based Reserves, Long Duration Contracts).
  • Participate in operational excellence and model transformation projects to streamline actuarial processes from all facets: model inputs (data feeds, assumptions, parameters), calculation engine, model outputs (data repositories, reporting layers).
  • Identify and assess risk in actuarial responsibilities.
  • Comply with actuarial standards of practice, precepts and enterprise risk management responsibilities.
  • Support enterprise wide risk management initiatives.
  • This position requires extensive or prolonged typing/keyboarding.
  • This position requires sitting over 66% of the time.
  • This position requires Visual Acuity at 20 inches (or less) over 66% of the time.
  • FSA designation.
  • ASA designation.
  • Term, Traditional, or Universal Life experience with Modeling and/or Valuation.
  • Experience with multiple actuarial platforms (ALFA, AXIS, Prophet, Polysystems).
  • Experience with model governance and change management frameworks.
  • Modeling or Valuation Experience.
  • Experience with one of the following actuarial platforms: ALFA, AXIS, Prophet, Polysystems).
  • Seasoned knowledge of advanced actuarial assumptions and formulae and in-depth knowledge and understanding of actuarial and statistical sciences, economics, or computer sciences.
  • Aptitude for statistical interpretation, a strong knowledge of advanced actuarial assumptions and formulae and accounting practices.
  • Thorough financial and actuarial background.
  • Extensive experience in the development and presentation of financial reports.
  • Excellent human relations and oral and written communication skills, analytical and decision-making abilities, and sound judgment.
  • Team oriented and strong collaboration skills.
  • Product and industry knowledge.
