RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work under the direction of the company’s Chief Actuary to monitor and guide the life actuarial control cycle ensuring that profit, risk and capital targets are met.
  • Collaborate across the four actuarial control cycle teams.
  • Experience Studies, Pricing, Valuation/Financial Reporting, and Models to react to emerging risk and experience trends, influence product development and pricing, explain GAAP and statutory financial results, and develop actionable business and capital planning/ALM strategies.
  • Provide project leadership by exhibiting influence and actuarial expertise to improve the results of the life business units, balancing risk management with business goals.
  • Interact with executive leadership, business unit and sales management teams to communicate results, understand needs, and assist in the implementation of corporate strategic initiatives.
  • Participate as a member of the Actuarial Leadership Team to guide department strategy and initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries required and Membership in American Academy of Actuaries (M.A.A.A).
  • Fifteen years of experience.
  • Diverse life actuarial experience.
  • Prior experience interacting with and presenting results to executive leaders.
  • Project management experience with a focus on building leadership skills.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills to fit with a team-based environment.
  • Track record of leading by example, creating an environment of honesty, integrity and transparency.
  • Well-organized and highly competent, with the ability to solve relatively unstructured problems.
